What is Title Case?
Title case is a capitalization style used for titles of books, articles, songs, and other creative works. In standard title case (often aligning with APA, AP, and Chicago styles), the first and last words of the title are capitalized, along with all nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, and adverbs.
Which Words Should Not Be Capitalized?
According to most major style guides, you should typically lowercase the following parts of speech when they appear in the middle of a title:
- Articles: a, an, the
- Coordinating Conjunctions: and, but, for, or, nor, so, yet
- Short Prepositions: at, by, for, in, of, on, to, up

Our tool also provides quick conversions for other common text cases:
- Sentence case: Capitalizes only the first letter of the first word, just like a standard sentence. Often used for modern blog subheadings and UI design.
- UPPERCASE: Capitalizes every single letter. Useful for emphasizing certain labels or headers.
- Capitalized Case: Capitalizes the first letter of every single word, regardless of whether it's an article or preposition.
